I had my third open heart surgery in November of 2022. I started golfing again in June of 2023. It took me 4 months to get to where I could swing the club without much pain. It still hurts and I can’t get my old 15 handicap swing back. I currently play with about a 25 handicap and it is frustrating. I would hit a few good shots but mostly they were bad. The good shots always came on the last hole.
I play golf every Thursday. But I play and am disappointed again because I am not better than I was the previous week.
I thought about it. What did I do this week to become a better golfer? The answer is nothing. I did nothing. I just showed up to the golf course and started golfing.
It seems to me that Christians do the same thing. They show up at church on Sunday thinking they will be closer to God this week than they were last week. But what did you do this week to draw closer to God? Did you read God’s Holy Word? Did you participate in a small group? Did you even pray and talk to God?
A great way to start doing something is to get into the Bible Recap. https://www.thebiblerecap.com/
