God Misplaced My Heart!

Standard

I GO TO CHURCH ON SATURDAYS NOW. I LOVE going to church on Saturday night. After 30 years of being in church every Sunday I have to admit that it is nice to have Sunday’s off right now. I bet you think all I do is watch football. Well I have to confess I have watched a couple of games on a Sunday morning.
However, a few weeks ago I went to church with my friend Tom Osbeck  in Woodland on Sunday morning. Tom is a missionary from Haiti and he was going to speak at this church. During the service they sang a song that really Irritated me. The title of the song is, “All I Can Say”. I was there to worship but I could not worship because of this song by David Crowder. Here are some of the words:
Lord didn’t You see me cry’n?
And didn’t You hear me call Your name?
Wasn’t it You I gave my heart to?
I wish You’d remember Where you sat it down.
What in the world are we singing!  I just accused God of misplacing my heart! Well, once I heard the end of the song I settled down. It is basically the same story as the “Footprints in the Sand” poem. You know, the one where the guy com-plains to God about leaving him all alone in the tough times of his life and God tells him the reason he only sees one set of footprints is because God was carrying him. That is the same message in David Crowder’s song, “All I Can Say”
At the end of Crowder’s song the lyrics say,
I didn’t notice You were standing here.
I didn’t know that That was You holding me.
I didn’t notice You were cry’n too.
I didn’t know that That was You washing my feet.                                                                                                                                                                         So as I left the church that morning I realized the song did it’s job. What is the job of a song in church you ask? To draw me closer to God and make me evaluate my relationship with Him. I have thought about that song for 3 weeks now. It has made me think about times when I think I am alone but I am not.
Some have said that the Holiday season is the loneliest time of the year for some people because it only reminds them of how alone they are. This Christmas season whether you feel alone or not, remember that Jesus is standing with you! Jesus is holding you. His heart brakes for you. So much that he was born for you so He could die for you!
Let’s remember that God has never forgotten us. That is what my Christmas will be about this year. What about you?
Shine the Light,
